Torrent Dora Explorer Season 5
Dora's Jack-in-the-Box. Season 5, Episode 5. September 18, 2008. Dora helps an old Jack-in-the-Box relearn his song, then looks for Russian nesting dolls.
Dora is a little Hispanic girl with who goes on adventures with her red boot wearing monkey, conveniently named Boots. During her adventures we also get to meet her talking backpack (or la mochila) and the map who sings an annoyingly cute song. The show plays out almost like a computer adventure showing a mouse on different scenes where the kids make a decision.
Dora asks your kids questions and then waits for a response. Dora would then congratulate your child for trying, while replying back with the correct answer to encourage them.
The main purpose of the show is to teach Spanish to English-speaking children. This is a wonderful show for children. It's perfect for pre-schoolers and toddlers. The lessons are hidden in Dora's adventures and not force fed.
In my opinion, one of the best parts of the show is the bilingual aspect. Characters speak both English and Spanish. My 20 month old can count to ten in both languages thanks to this show. The adventures are fun and interesting, with an emphasis on sharing, compromise, and interactivity.
Catchy songs are interspersed with recurring themes. The repetition can be annoying for a parent, but it's just what young minds need to aid in learning. Unlike other 'children's' shows, there in almost no reference to commercial tie-ins. Yes, there is Dora merchandise available, but they don't waste time or insult your intelligence pushing it on the show.
