Craigbeal, cdef is correct, it is a Samick B130NS, made in Korea in August 2001. The five piece lamenated neck and neck to body connection style were also very popular with Ibanez basses made both in Japan and later in Indonesia. This body shape was adopted by Greg Bennett, who was contracted with Samick to design both electric and acoustic instruments, at about the time this bass was manufactured. Bennett produced four models under the Corsair line, CR-1 through CR-4, initiatelly made in Korea and then later in Indonesia. Earlier CR-1s were in a P-Bass configuration.

The mid-range CR-2s and CR-3s, as well as the top-of-the-line CR-4s were, for the most part, PJ configurations. I believe these were all 34' scale basses. However, Bennett also designed and Samick produced an Indonesian made CR-1 mini Travel/Child's version of this instrument. Craig, if you ever decide to sell this one. Feel free to contact me via TalkBass.

I'd Definitely be interested in buying it.

I know that not all of them are wonderful, but I found one that really piqued my interest. I could not get ANY information other than the serial numbe.

Crack scene faro. When speed and visualization are required, SCENE 2018 allows users to scan faster without loss of photographic detail.

Like Redleg intimated, they are hit or miss. I've played quite a few crappy ones. But I also owned a custom samick 5 w/a five piece bubinga/wenge neck, brass nut, active preamp, that was a seriously nice bass. Definitely on par with any Iby I've played in it's range.

Samick

I had it for several years and the only reason I got rid of it was because I had too many fivers. I still kind of regret getting rid of it, but I wasn't playing it much anymore, and better to get it into the hands of someone who would. Lol samick made a whole lot of guitars and basses for a whole lot of different companies. The electronics are crap, with upgraded electronics it is as good as any korean model of the same time period.

Samick produced a lot of Ibanez guitars and basses too. I have a midrange Ibanez that is stock, and my old samick with emg's is more versatile. I would agree they are hit or miss, just like fenders, gibsons and any other mass produced instruments. I'm asking 200 for mine with emg p5j's which means the bass is almost free w/pickups. 200 for a stock one is too much for sure.
